There is not a single reason on earth you should move here. None. It is run by the most incompetent and spineless people on earth who have an impressive contempt for their residents. This building, and anything run by Bernstein management should be avoided at all costs. Here are some examples from the roughly year and a half I unfortunately lived here. I've lost a week and a half of plans because of how they run the building, and they'll extort you on the way out.
- They have a fire alarm... issue that they refuse to address. It WILL go off randomly, for hours at a time, and it will cost you your time and sanity. While I lived there it went off for hours at a time and cost me days of work, sleep, and plans. I’ve never been removed from the community group chat and after living there starting in 2023, it still isn’t fixed and they could not care less. It’s gone off on at least 10x occasions when I lived there, and since I moved out at least another 4x.
- They tried to instal genuine spyware in our apartments that would have told them the following: if anyone is home, if anyone has ever smoked in the apartment, how many people are in the apartment, and more. The more? The sensors had microphones on them. The company running it made products aimed on “keeping an eye on pesky Airbnb renters”.
- They are liars. After stating we could move out early, they either lied or were so incompetent they didn’t process the paperwork, and have just sent me to collections without a single iota of communication for as to what the charge was. When I told them it was ridiculous and I won’t be paying for the random $900 they added on to my final bill, they ignored me and sent me to collections. They will not work with you and they WILL extort you.
- The facilities never worked properly and were typically gross. The gym is trash heap shoved into a closet with constantly broken machinery. We didn’t have treadmills for the majority of the time we lived there
- They do not prioritize ANY maintenance. We didn’t have a working elevator for MONTHS. Did they care? No. Did the AC work consistently? No - it was constantly out on hot days.
- Security is a joke. I haven’t even touched on the area, but here’s some of the crime that happened IN THE BUILDING
- The front desk was robbed twice in a night
- Someone went up and down the halls on multiple floors trying to enter the apartments. It happened again after I moved out.
- Packages were stolen

While I enjoy living at Park Place at Petworth Metro, the management is slow and uncooperative. It takes several emails and visits to get anything done. And don't even think about calling - they never answer!

Hello, and thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear your time at Park Place did not meet your expectations, but please know that we’ve made several improvements in the past several months that we’d love to highlight.... Our fitness center now has brand-new treadmills and equipment selected based on resident feedback, elevators have been updated, and we replaced the internal garage door for better security. We’ve also installed new AC systems and placed more focus on resident connection with events like our recent Sip & Paint.
Regarding safety, we haven’t had any incidents with non-residents or the concierge since 2023, and our team continues to partner with public officials on neighborhood security. As for the fire alarm, the issue you mentioned from 2023 has not continued—a recent, unrelated issue was resolved quickly. We’re committed to providing a welcoming and comfortable community and are so proud of the progress we’ve made for our current residents.
