I lived in a studio for 2 years while attending school. The studio was decent - small when compared to other studios in a similar price range. However, the building is fairly small which in turn means there is very little noise. Management was typically responsive to maintenance requests, and upper management was very helpful when there were any issues with the building and/or the onsite manager. My honest recommendation is if you are a student who is looking to live alone in a studio for a one... year lease - this is a pretty decent deal. However, your rent will increase after the first 12-months based on the D.C. rent control rates. The neighborhood is pretty safe, and the neighborhoods offer great places to walk/run. Buses make getting to Tenleytown/Van Ness very easy. It is also a nice 20ish minute walk to get to either Tenleytown/Van Ness. Daily maintenance keeps the common areas clean, and most mornings you will see the nice individuals who are responsible for emptying floor garbage rooms/cleaning the lobby. The laundry room is communal and typically clean. While all unit utilities (including AC) are included, there are really no additional amenities. If your budget allows, there may be nearby studios for a bit more that also include onsite gyms, roof tops, etc. But if your budget is your bottom line, 5100 is a decent place to start, especially if you are new to D.C.

You definitely get what you pay for at this place. The building is very old and it shows -- many times in the lobby there are leaks/holes in the ceiling covered by duct tape and cardboard boxes. The rooms are a bit nicer (if you get a renovated one). And, don't expect great maintenance -- countless times the AC goes out during the hottest parts of the summer with more than 24 hrs at times before it's fixed. The hallways smell of cigarettes. Also a lot of turnover in management which makes it... difficult to get things resolved (more than 2-3 people circulated in my time there). I had to follow up several times to receive my security deposit which they then docked me 7 days even though I was moved out (they wouldn't even have had me pay if I didn't ask for the deposit back). All in all, if you want a mediocre apartment and unhelpful management you found your next home.

The upgrades are amazing here we are now under new management and things couldn't have looked better! My husband and I have just renewed our lease here for another year making it the longest stay we've made in one apartment in almost 5 years. It is in the now up and coming part of the Denver area called Glendale. The trails are minutes away from the location not to mention the people here! Everyone knows everyone around here there's always a smile people know most by first name its more then an... apartment complex it's truly a friendly community and home. They have get together a in the summer by the pool they had a DJ and food everyone came to celebrate the opening of the pool for the summer there were contests my husband won a free round of golf which he can't wait to enjoy! They do so much to help us enjoy the time here they plan to.add a fire pit to the courtyard they also added a gazebo by the pool! The best part for me is that they welcome with open arms animals such as cats and dogs they even have a doggie wash room in the middle court yard. I have not had any issues here and if I did they were Minot and quickly taken care of. I am very glad we made this our home couldn't have picked a better place to begin a new life in this beautiful state of Colorado.
